Bringing opera and classical music into new spaces, making them accessible to all. This is the goal of the association NOW Opera.
Founded in 2018 by award-winning conductor Andrew Joon Choi, actress Anja Scharer and software developer Roger Zimmermann, the association, managed and run by youthful and ambitions artists in and around Zurich, have set themselves the goal of bringing opera to all possible locations – even where one might not suspect.

Andrew Joon Choi, Music Director
President and Music director of NOW Opera, Andrew Joon Choi is a Zurich based, classically trained conductor inspired by interdisciplinary arts.
Since winning 1st place, Neeme Jarvi Conducting Prize at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival and Academy in 2018, he has gone on to collaborate with renown arts organization around the world, most recently being at the international stages of the Musikverein in Vienna with the ORF Radio symphonieorchester Wien as part of the Wien Modern Music Festival, 2019. In march of 2020, he is poised to make his Tonhalle debut with the Kammerorchester Basel, as well as the Basel Sinfonietta in May, for which he is currently holding the position of Assistant Conductor, under the direction of Maestro Baldur Brönnimann.
Andrejs Krutojs, Regie
“Powerful baritone Andrejs Krutojs” (“Südkurier”) is internationally active opera and concert singer based in Zurich, Switzerland.
Critically acclaimed baritone, Andrejs Krutojs has a distinguished and versatile career. His vocal prowess leads him to sing at some of the most demanded opera houses around the world including the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. Since September of 2019, he is a new team member and regie of NOW Opera.
Gianna Lunardi, Fundraising

High in demand, Mezzo-soprano Gianna Lunardi is a versatile artist who is active all around Switzerland. Highlights of her concert career as a soloist were appearances at the Tonhalle Zurich u.a. Beat Furrer’s FAMA and the Hayden Oratory.
As a member of the Zurich vocal ensemble as well as the Zurich Sing-Akademie, she collaborated with world renown conductors such as David Zinman, Roger Norrington and Charles Dutoit.
In addition, her own vocal quartet, Syrinx, fosters the combination of Romantic repertoire with the Broadway style of the 20s of the 20th century.
Since September of 2019, she is the newest team member and fundraising at NOW Opera.
Roger Zimmermann, App development and Finance
Roger Zimmermann lebt wieder in seiner Wahlheimatstadt Zürich nach längeren Aufenthalten in Vancouver und Kuala Lumpur. Seit über sechzehn Jahren kreiert er Software Technologien für eine globale Kundschaft. Unter anderem hat er mitgeholfen hunderte von Millionen von Computerchips sicherer zu machen und ist Miterfinder zweier Patenten. Bei NOW Opera ist er verantwortlich für Strukturen, sowie in einem nächsten Schritt für die Entwicklung einer begleitenden App. An Opern mag er die zwischenmenschlichen Verbindungen die auf gesanglicher und theatralischer Weise hervortreten.
